Mendoza-Bruno wins Classic titles
Consuelo Mendoza-Bruno of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won four events at the Vacation Classic in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., recently.
Bruno won the vault, bars, beam and all around in Level 8. Other CRAG winners were Maya Deuso (bars), Grace Hartzler (bars) and Carly Mark (vault) in Level 7 and Jacey Carr (all around) in Level 9.
Lily Culver, Kareena McSweeny, Connie Mendoza and Mary Kate Patterson placed in Level 7, Lauren Fruehling finished third in the beam in Level 8 and Emma Hartzler earned three runner-up finishes in Level 9.
At the Chicago Style meet Feb. 7-9, Deuso won the bars and placed second in the all around in Level 7, Mark finished third on the bars in Level 7 and Carr placed in three events, including a second on the beam, in Level 9.
Twisters gymnasts shine in Dells
WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - Allyson Steffensmeier and Alex Sands of Twisters Gymnastics placed in multiple events at the Vacation Classic earlier this month.
Steffensmeier, in Level 9, placed second on the floor exercise and beam and third in the all around. Sands, in Level 8, was second on the floor, third in the beam, bars and all around. Alexis Peterson placed third on the vault and beam.
