Burak, Grothus earn NWCA all-academic honors

The National Wrestling Coaches Association released its NCAA Division I all-academic team Wednesday.

All three Iowa programs were represented on the list.

University of Iowa 197-pound All-American Nathan Burak and Hawkeye national qualifier Brody Grothus (149) made the list. Both finished their sophomore seasons in March with Burak placing eighth at the NCAA Championships. Grothus is an Interdepartmental Studies major.

University of Northern Iowa All-Americans Dylan Peters (125) and Joey Lazor (141) earned spots on the team. Both placed sixth at the national tournament. Peters, a red-shirt freshman, is a biology major. Lazor, a senior, is an Elementary Education major.

Iowa State's Gabe Moreno, a red-shirt freshman who qualified for the NCAA tournament at 141, was recognized for his studies in psychology.
