Bruce Pearl, who worked as a U. of Iowa assistant men's basketball coach many years ago, is a man with little fear.

Otherwise, how could you explain this recent video of the Tennessee head coach doing this Monday night in Knoxville at Volscars, at an Oscars/ESPYs parody honoring the top Volunteers athletes of the year?

I sat next to Pearl for 14 hours on a flight from Chicago to Seoul 23 years ago shortly after he followed Tom Davis from Stanford to Iowa. Pearl never told me moments like these would be coming in his middle-age.

Then again, I probably wouldn't have ruled it out. I like Bruce and always have. He knows how to entertain via his basketball team, and without it.
