Brian Ferentz gets an official promotion with the New England Patriots

It wasn't his title, but Brian Ferentz was the New England Patriots' tight ends coach in 2010.
Now it is his title, as this WEEI.com report tells us.
Ferentz is a former Iowa football player and the son of current Hawkeyes head coach Kirk Ferentz. At 27, he is one of the youngest full-time assistants the NFL has had.
Bill Belichick, the Patriots' head coach, clearly has faith in Brian. If you just go on raw statistics of the Pats' tight ends, the position was an unqualified strength on a strong team.
New England's rookie tight ends, Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, both had stellar first seasons. Hernandez caught 64 passes for 563 yards and six touchdowns. Gronkowski had 59 catches for 546 yards and 10 touchdowns.
And veteran Alge Crumpler, who is older than Ferentz, added two touchdown catches.
That is enormous production from that position. Sure, it helps to have Tom Brady doing the throwing. But for rookie tight ends to have put up numbers like that? Their position coach wasn't holding them back, that's for darn sure.
