Bob Bowlsby signs a 6-year contract extension to remain Stanford's athletic director

I found this blog post by Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury-News very interesting.
Bob Bowlsby, 59 years old and the former athletic director at Iowa, recently told Wilner he had signed a contract to remain at Stanford as AD through Aug. 31, 2017. He left Iowa for Stanford in 2006.
Wilner wrote:
I'm sure more than a few Stanford alums/fans/donors/constituents are more resigned to the news of Bowlsby's extension than excited about it - and that's not an unusual situation when it comes to athletic directors.
Here's how I'd grade him on handling of various topics:
Football: A+
(Football infrastructure changes: A+++)
Men's basketball: D
Athletic dept. management: C
Fundraising: C-
Pac-10 involvement/leadership: A
Overall: B (Because football is so important.)
Deserving of contract extension? Yes.
