Babe Bulaga? Packers rookie clears Miller Park fences
Mike Hlas May. 17, 2010 11:41 am
You may have heard about this, but Bryan Bulaga took batting practice on the Miller Park field Saturday before the Milwaukee Brewers' game against Philadelphia.
Oh, did he ever take batting practice.
As this Madison.com story notes, Bulaga faced about 50 pitches and knocked 14 -- 14!!! --- over the fence with a wood bat.
"I was hoping just to hit a couple solid ones. Not make myself look like an idiot," said Bulaga.
The offensive tackle does bear a resemblance to Popeye, though he's about four feet taller and 250 pounds heavier than the cartoon character.
I can't find any video of Bulaga's home run-hitting exploits. If you see any, let me know.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and right tackle Mark Tauscher took part in a Brewers batting practice last month, but the two combined for just three homers.
He did a weekend-long p.r. blitz for the Packers in Milwaukee last week, also appearing at the Milwaukee Iron's Arena Football game Friday night.
Photos of Bulaga were given to the fans as they entered Bradley Center for that game.
Freed from any possible Internet shackles now that he's a pro, Bulaga has taken to Twitter. You can find his Tweets here
