A few recruiting links

Here's a Minneapolis Star-Tribune story on Cretin-Derham Hall's Mark Alt, who has a grayshirt offer to play QB at Iowa. Of course, his dad, John, was an all-American at Iowa and played 13 seasons for the Kansas City Chiefs. Mark Alt also has a scholarship to play hockey at the University of Minnesota. He will also wait and see what happens in the NHL draft in June.
From the story, “It's a good position to be in, to have interest from programs that are among the best in college hockey and college football,” said John Alt, Mark's father and a former Iowa football standout. “He's in a good spot, it's just a little complicated.”
Here are a couple links on Clearview (Lorain, Ohio) High School's Anthony Hitchens, Cleveland Plain Dealer and The Chronicle-Telegram.
Iowa had an "in" here. Iowa defensive backs coach Phil Parker is from Lorain and starred at Amherst (1983 graduate) and Michigan State. Parker was inducted into the Lorain Sports Hall of Fame last year.
“He's been recruiting me for a long time,” Hitchens told the Chronicle-Telegram. “I never even knew he was from around here, he never said anything to me about that. He just brought it up about midway through my senior year, and was telling me about all these places in Lorain. He knew everything around here.”
Hitchens was mainly a running back at Clearview -- he rushed for 1,400 and 21 TDs last year -- but will play safety at Iowa. He received an offer after safety David Cato announced his transfer.
Iowa has 20 commitments. The national signing period begins next Wednesday.
