2010 Orange Bowl almost as widely-seen as 2010 baseball All-Star Game

Remember when baseball was popular?
The Nielsen rating for Tuesday night's All-Star Game was 7.5, the lowest ever according to the Nielsen Company. That translates to 12.1 million viewers.
Maybe they should have Simon Cowell on the telecast as a judge.
The 2010 Orange Bowl, matching Iowa and Georgia Tech, was the lowest-rated of the five BCS bowls. Yet, the Orange had a 6.8 rating (10.9 million viewers).
Imagine that. Almost as many people in America wanted to see Ricky Stanzi and Adrian Clayborn as Derek Jeter and Albert Pujols. Or maybe people just like college football a lot more than major-league baseball these days. You tell me.
The BCS title game, by the way, had a 17.2 rating. That's 30.8 million viewers.
When people ask me why this blog is a lot more football-centric than anything else, I'll tell them what Willie Sutton said when he was asked why he rob banks.
"That's where the money is."
Not a ratings home run
