Central Furniture Rescue, a Cedar Rapids based non-profit, will host a $5 chair and bar stool sale in April, called a CHAIR-ity parking lot sale, in an attempt to turn an excess of donated chairs into other needed furniture.

On June 23, Central Furniture Rescue in Cedar Rapids is collaborating with the Solid Waste Agency in Marion to hold a furniture drive. The event, taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., provides the community with an opportunity to drop off furniture items at the Solid Waste Agency’s main office parking lot.

The refugee resettlement organization has partnered with the furniture rescue non-profit to better serve the community after welcoming a large influx of Afghans refugees.

A local nonprofit, Central Furniture Rescue, that helps people transitioning from homelessness to a permanent home is having an open house and ribbon cutting for its new “forever home” later this month.
