Drake Obermueller developed into a valuable and versatile asset for the Iowa City High baseball program. His contributions garnered a spot on the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association all-state Super Team. Here are the all-state selections released Friday.
Harrison Hartke fired 1-under 69 Wednesday at Elmcrest Country Club for a four-round total of 287 to win the Pribyl boys’ open division title. Hayley Morris claimed the girls’ open championship with 238 total, winning by 15 strokes.

Iowa City West scored four runs in the top of the 7th for a 12-11 comeback victory in the opener. The Trojans jumped to an early lead and staved off a Cedar Rapids Washington rally for a 4-3 win in the nightcap, earning a baseball doubleheader sweep Friday night.
Area softball Super Ten and standings (June 11): The top three teams remain the same; Linn-Mar and Western Dubuque each jump four spots.
Cedar Rapids Washington’s Jane Petersen and Preston Haefner combined to shoot 71 and placed second at the Class 2A state co-ed golf meet Tuesday at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.
The victory delivered Liberty to the 3A final against No. 4 Urbandale Friday at 5 at Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Win there, and the Lightning will have their second state title in three years.
The West Michigan Whitecaps had the best overall record in minor league baseball after the regular season. The Caps won all four playoff games, including 3-1 Tuesday night over the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Veterans Memorial Stadium to win the 2025 Midwest League championship. West Michigan finished 96-39 overall, playoffs included.
