Jacob Onken, 32, a Republican who works as an attorney for Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, is running against Elinor Levin, a 35-year-old private writing tutor, for Iowa House District 89, which includes part of Iowa City and University Heights.

Three candidates are on the ballot for the Iowa Senate in District 42, which covers much of rural Linn and Benton counties. Charlie McClintock won the Republican Primary in June. He will be facing Democratic nominee Jessica Wiskus, and Bruce Gardner, who is running without a party.
