Turnout light, so far, in Johnson election

IOWA CITY - It's election day in Johnson County, with voters heading to the polls to fill one seat on the Board of Supervisors.
Turnout is light so far, as probably would be expected for a special election held in January. As of 11 a.m., the turnout rate was 1.89 percent.
That certainly will rise, the question is how much.
Liberal blogger John Deeth, who works in the Johnson County Auditor's Office, has two good posts on the election. One from today looks at early turnout. The other details how, unsurprisingly, Democrats held a big edge in absentee voting as of Monday.
At the other end of the political spectrum, the
conservative Coralville Courier also looks at turnout and reports that Republican Lori Cardella focused her campaigning on Coralville and rural areas, so how voters turnout in those areas versus in Iowa City may be a key to the election.
