There were three names on the Springville school board election ballot: Tami Gillmore, Todd Nulle and Dennis Thies.
All three are incumbents, and all were running unopposed, yet a high number of write-in votes in Tuesday's election resulted in unknown results after the polls closed.
There were 104 write-in votes, according to unofficial results from the Linn County Auditor's Office. That's 37.14 percent of the 280 votes cast.
Thies received 60 votes. Gillmore and Nulle both received 58 votes.
The Linn County Auditor's Office expects to know who won seats on the school board after the votes are canvassed Friday. However, Tim Box, Linn County's deputy commissioner of elections, said the distribution of names among the write-in candidates was too low to upset the candidates on the ballot.
"No write-in person is going to be acquiring a seat," Box said.
