CEDAR RAPIDS - Paul Ryan will make his first stop in Eastern Iowa as the Republican Party's Vice Presidential candidate Tuesday during an appearance at Kirkwood Community College.
“I think he's going to talk jobs, jobs, jobs,” said Linn County Republican Chairman Steve Armstrong. “I don't see him looking at any other issues because there really isn't any other issue.”
At the Republican National Convention, Ryan promised the Romney-Ryan ticket would create 12 million jobs if elected.
Ryan is scheduled to speak today at 3:30 p.m. at Johnson Hall on the Kirkwood campus in Cedar Rapids. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and tickets are free. For more information, call (515) 657-4230.
“I think he's exciting. I really do,” said Linn County Republican Chairman Steve Armstrong. “He's a fit, young, family man. I think he brings a lot to the table and I think that a lot of young people can relate to Paul Ryan.”
Meanwhile, former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain will be in the Corridor on Wednesday for a series of events highlighting the importance of business and free enterprise and promoting free market policies that encourage job creation.
Cain will appear with Bernie Marcus, founder of the Home Depot, at a breakfast for faith-based and community leaders at 8 a.m. and a lunch for job creators and business leaders at 11:30 a.m. at the Cedar Rapids Marriott, 1200 Collins Rd. Tickets are free.
