Candidates for office in Iowa are beginning to inundate the Secretary of State’s Office with their nominating signatures, which place them on the ballot for this fall’s midterm elections.
Congresswoman Ashley Hinson made her re-election campaign official Monday, submitting more than 6,600 nominating signatures to the Iowa Secretary of State’s office, according to a news release.
Wolfe, who has been clerking for her sister, Rep. Mary Wolfe, D-Clinton, is running for an open seat in House 90 in Iowa City. Most of the district is represented by Rep. Christina Bohannan, who is seeking the Democratic nomination to the U.S. House in the new southeast Iowa district.

Sara Yedlik, a Benton County Democrat, is running to challenge the Republican incumbent in a House district covering most of Benton County and part of Linn County.
Elle Wyant, LGBTQ+ activist, is running for the Iowa Legislature from House 91 where there is no incumbent. The district covers Iowa County where she grew up and northwest Johnson County.
Patty Judge, the former state agriculture secretary and lieutenant governor, has endorsed Mike Franken in the Democratic primary in Iowa’s U.S. Senate campaign. Also, former Congressman Dave Loebsack has endorsed in Iowa’s Secretary of State Democratic primary.
Jeff Cooling is the first candidate to announce in House 77, which includes much of Cedar Rapids from Sixteenth Avenue SW to the Linn-Johnson County line. Rep. Kirsten Running-Marquardt, D-Cedar Rapids, represents that area, but is not seeking re-election to the House.
