Polls will be open throughout Johnson County Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the special election to elect a new Johnson County supervisor.
Three people are seeking to fill the vacancy created when Supervisor Larry Meyers died last September.
The candidates are Democrat Janelle Rettig of Iowa City; Republican Lori Cardella of rural Solon; and Jim Knapp of Iowa City, who is running as an independent.
A committee of three county officials appointed Rettig to the position last fall but enough people signed a petition, started by Cardella, to force a special election.
