Former Republican Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum has cancelled two scheduled stops in Des Moines today. The former Pennsylvania senator was hospitalized this weekend for a gastrointestinal illness and dehydration.
Santorum won the Iowa Caucus in 2012, and has hinted at running as a candidate in the 2016 presidential election.
Santorum was scheduled to attend a luncheon at the John Paul II Medical Research Institute Monday. He was also supposed to give the keynote address at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition's Annual Spring Kick-off Monday night.
Former GOP Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum announces he will be the spokesman of Give Cures on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in Coralville. (Hayley Bruce/The Gazette)
