Brad Sherman of Williamsburg prevailed in a six-way race Tuesday for the Republican nomination to represent Iowa House District 91.
Sherman, pastor at the Solid Rock Church in Coralville, will face Democrat Elle Wyant of Marengo in the Nov. 8 general election.
The new district, created in last year’s redistricting, covers all of Iowa County and parts of Johnson County, including Oxford, Tiffin, Swisher and Shueyville.
Sherman came out on top in the primary with 1,436 votes, or 55.51 percent of 2,587 ballots cast in the race, according to unofficial results.
The other five candidates were Adam Grier of Williamsburg, Devon Hodgeman of Oxford, Skylar Limkemann of Tiffin, Matt McAreavy of Oxford and John George of Marengo, who was photographed wearing a QAnon T-shirt when turning in his nomination papers.
