GOP: Boswell silence speaks volumes

Mar. 3, 2010 4:22 pm
Third District U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell's silence on whether he will return campaign contributions from fellow Democrat Rep. Charlie Rangel of New York, who has stepped down as chair of the powerful Ways and Means Committee in the wake of being admonished by the House Ethics Committee, speaks volumes, according to the Republican Party of Iowa.
“Congressman Boswell's silence on this issue speaks volumes,” said Iowa GOP Executive Director Jim Anderson. “Instead of standing on the side of honest government, he followed in Nancy Pelosi's footsteps, just as he's done with the federal takeover of health care, a cap-and-trade-energy tax and the federal stimulus.”
Anderson also noted that Boswell has received approximately $50,000 in campaign cash from Rangel.
“Other Democrats who received money from Rangel have given it to charities, citing ethical standards, but apparently Boswell has no problem lining his campaign pockets with Rangel's tainted cash,” Anderson said. “He'll pay for that misplaced loyalty when voters go to the polls in November.”
