CEDAR RAPIDS - Bruce Braley leads Joni Ernst by 4 percent in the race to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, according to early results.
With 733 precincts reporting, Braley led Ernst by a margin of 50 percent (331,100) to 46 percent (308,839 votes).
This has been one of the most closely watched races in the country as Republicans hope to take back the Senate for the first time in eight years. Though most recent polls have showed Ernst in the lead, a Quinnipiac poll released yesterday indicated the race was a dead heat.
