Clintons keep coming back to NewBo

Oct. 28, 2016 12:12 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - Bill and Hillary Clinton are becoming NewBo regulars.
Between the former - and perhaps, future - first couple, they've made at least six visits to the NewBo neighborhood in southeast Cedar Rapids.
Candidate Clinton - Hillary, that is - rallied with about 500 people at NewBo City Market Jan. 4 during the caucus campaign.
Three days later, President Clinton made a tour of the market, visiting with vendors and shoppers, before speaking at a rally at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library.
Hillary Clinton also had meet-and-greet events at Parlor City Pub and Eatery and NewBo Alehouse during the caucus campaign.
Bill Clinton returned to the neighborhood Oct. 13 for an 'unscheduled” visit to Brewhemia, where he sipped coffee while visiting with patrons before addressing a rally at Cornell College in Mount Vernon.
And today, 10 days before Election Day, Hillary Clinton returns for an outdoor rally at 1:15 p.m. in the NewBo City Market courtyard.
Jennifer Pruden of the Czech Village / New Bohemia Main Street District, said she isn't surprised by the repeat visits, because the neighborhood 'is where the people are at.”
