The 62-year-old former Florida governor is the second son of the 41st president of the United States, George H.W. Bush; the younger brother of the 43rd U.S. chief executive, George W. Bush; and the grandson of a U.S. senator, Prescott Bush.
The Midland, Texas native attended the University of Texas at Austin. He moved to Florida and rose in the ranks of state politics, winning a four-year term as governor in 1999. Bush was re-elected to a second term and served until 2007.
He met his future wife, Columba, in Leon, Mexico, in 1971 as a student at a prestigious Massachusetts prep school. The couple, married since 1974, has two sons and a daughter: George P. Bush, himself a Texas state official; John Ellis Bush Jr. and Noelle Bush. Jeb Bush speaks Spanish as well as English.
