DES MOINES — Former President Donald Trump endorsed Ashley Hinson in a social media post this week.
Trump, the Republican seeking another term in the White House, on Tuesday posted on his social media company Truth Social his endorsement of Hinson, the Eastern Iowa congresswoman seeking a third, two-year term in the U.S. House.
“A Loving Wife and Proud Mother of two sons, Ashley is a champion for the American family,” Trump’s post read. “In Congress, she is fighting hard to Secure our Border, Cut Taxes, Reduce Burdensome Regulations, Promote American Agriculture, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.”
Hinson, a former state lawmaker and TV news anchor, is being challenged by Democrat Sarah Corkery in Eastern Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District.
Hinson thanked Trump for his endorsement in her own social media post, on X.
“I look forward to fighting alongside you to Make America Great Again!” Hinson posted Wednesday.
Thank you, @realDonaldTrump!

Iowa Farm Bureau endorses Scheetz
Sami Scheetz, a Democrat from Cedar Rapids, has been endorsed by the Iowa Farm Bureau in his campaign for re-election to the Iowa House.
Scheetz received the endorsement from the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation’s political arm, which designated him one of its “Friends of Agriculture.”
Scheetz is running uncontested for a second, two-year term in the Iowa House.
“Iowa farmers know I’ll protect them from eminent domain abuse for private gain for carbon pipelines. I’m proud to have the Farm Bureau’s endorsement,” Scheetz said in a social media post.
I am proud to announce that I have been designated by the @IowaFarmBureau as a 2024 Friend of Agriculture!

Iowa Farm Bureau endorses Nunn
Republican incumbent Congressman Zach Nunn has been endorsed by the Iowa Farm Bureau, the Nunn campaign announced.
Nunn is running for a second, two-year term in the U.S. House. He is being challenged by Democrat Lanon Baccam and by Libertarian Marco Battaglia, who is running a write-in campaign.
The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation’s political arm named Nunn one of its “Friends of Agriculture.”
“Iowa’s 87,000 family farms feed and fuel the world. I’m honored to be their voice in Washington every day,” Nunn said in a campaign news release. “As a sixth-generation Iowan who helped on my family’s century farm, I know that farming isn’t just a job, but a way of life. China is outbidding family farms, putting our food supply, economy, and national security at risk. I’ll keep fighting to protect our livelihood.”
