Iowa City Democrat and former state representative Christina Bohannan raised $820,000 in the first three months of 2024, according to her campaign.
She is running to unseat Iowa U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a Republican from Ottumwa, in Southeast Iowa’s 1st Congressional District.
Bohannan’s campaign said it has raised $2.1 million in this election cycle, including the most recent totals.
Miller-Meeks' campaign did not immediately respond Friday with its first quarter fundraising numbers.
Campaigns have until April 15 to report contributions and expenditures for the quarter ending March 31 with the Federal Elections Commission.
Both Bohannan’s and Miller-Meeks’ campaigns had yet to file reports as of Friday afternoon, according to a search for filings on the FEC’s website.
Miller-Meeks’ campaign raised $1.75 million between Jan. 1, 2023 and Dec. 31, 2023, and had nearly $1.6 million cash on hand, according to its latest FEC filing.
Bohannan raised $1.3 million as of the end of last year, with $1.1 million cash on hand.
According to the Bohannan campaign, that total is the most for a House challenger in an off year. According to the campaign, 75 percent of her contributions come from Iowans.
David Pautsch, a Davenport Republican known for organizing the annual Quad Cities Prayer Breakfast, is challenging Miller-Meeks for the GOP nomination in the June primary. The FEC did not list contribution filings for Pautsch in 2023 as of Friday
