Workshops on commercial leases set in Iowa City

IOWA CITY -- Four Lunch and Learn programs are planned in Iowa City on commercial leasing, with leasing tips for small businesses.

During the 90-minute programs, attendees will hear from local experts on commercial leases and what to look for when considering a lease renewal.

The workshops will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 8, Feb. 22, April 19 and June 27 at Merge, 136 S. Dubuque St. The programs are presented by the Iowa City Downtown District and the South of 6 Iowa City Business District (So.6).

"Whether you are an aspiring entrepreneur or a longtime small business owner, grasping all the intricate details of lease agreements and knowing how to best negotiate and advocate for your business can be overwhelming," said Angie Jordan, executive director of So.6.

"These lunch and learns continue to create a safe space to explore and ask critical questions to increase entrepreneurial knowledge and confidence while also connecting small businesses to experts and resources within the Iowa City community," Jordan said.

The Leasing Clinics are hosted by the Iowa City Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District and are free to participants, though registration is required at https://downtowniowacity.com/.
