A Workers Memorial Day observance will be held April 28 at the Kernels ballpark in Cedar Rapids.

The event will be held at 4:15 p.m. before the regularly scheduled Kernels game. Gates will open at 4 p.m.

The general public is encouraged to come early for the event. Kernels tickets will be required.

U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Iowa, will participate in the pre-game ceremony, sponsored by the Hawkeye Labor Council and Linn County Veterans Affairs.

The observance will honor the sacrifices of Americans who have died or suffered serious injuries on the job.
