Appointments

The Shellsburg Public Library Board announced the appointment of Edward Kraft as library director. Kraft lives in Shellsburg and is the pastor of Grace Community Church. He brings his experience of running a not-for-profit organization and ability to manage a volunteer staff to this position.

Paulson Electric hired Scott McDowell as its controller. McDowell was previously with Manatts Inc.

Jill Miller joined Physicians' Clinic of Iowa as nurse practitioner. Miller will work collaboratively with PCI's five neurologists to provide care for patients suffering from stroke, headache disorders, memory and dementia disorders, neuromuscular disorders and sleep disorders.

Northwestern Mutual hired a new member of its law department, Michael Conmey. Conmey, from Anamosa, and a University of Iowa Law graduate, joined as counsel.

Blair Ridge Dental announced the addition of Dr. Ben Plank as associate dentist. Plank is a recent graduate from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.

John Burton joined Thomas L. Cardella & Associates as senior programmer analyst. Burton previously worked at J&P Cycles in Anamosa.

Promotions

Laura Reed was appointed senior vice president, Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer, for Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. In this role, Reed will oversee Emergency Operations, Patient Relations, Pharmacy, Outpatient Services, Inpatient Services and Post-Acute Services at Mercy. She joined Mercy in 2008 and most recently served as operations director of Inpatient Services.
