Appointments

Jeremy Thorsgaard  joined Physicians' Clinic of Iowa as information technology director. This includes reviewing existing technologies, benchmarking, implementing security and compliance best practices and developing strategies.

ACT Inc. has removed the interim tag for Anjie Swingle, vice president of operations and logistics. Jeff McCullough, Tim Abel and Jeff Nesheim have also been promoted to assistant vice president positions at ACT. In addition, the not-for-profit has hired Debra Smilski and Dr. Scott Bishop for the same title in different departments.

Joe Schimberg was named to the board of directors with the Xavier Foundation. Schimberg is the president of the Schimberg Co.

U. S. Bank announced Tiffany Burlingame joined U.S. Bank's Home Mortgage lending staff as a mortgage loan originator at the Mormon Trek Branch in Iowa City. Burlingame was previously mortgage loan assistant with U.S. Bank.

Promotions

Mercy Physician Services, an affiliate of Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, announced the appointment of Annette Stanton to vice president-finance and systems improvement. Stanton started with MPS in 2007 as senior director of finance.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department announced several promotions. Curtis Hopper was promoted to assistant fire chief. Hopper will oversee support functions of the department, including the Fire Marshal's Office. Michael Fredericks was promoted to administrative district chief, managing the training division. Fredericks was fire captain since 2002.

Brian Gibson was promoted to battalion chief. Gibson has been a fire captain since 2000. Michael Cheney was promoted to shift fire captain. Cheney has been a member of the Fire Department since 1999. Jason Andrews was named shift fire captain. Andrews has been with the department since 1999.
