Congratulations to the dedicated staff and leaders at Lending Hands Adult Day Center in Washington for joining WesleyLife. In addition to Wesley Halcyon House retirement community in Washington, Wesley includes retirement and elder service facilities in Atlantic, Des Moines, Indianola, Newton, Pella and West Des Moines.
Lending Hands Adult Day Center was a non-profit entrepreneurial start-up 20 years ago in the basement of Faith Baptist Church in Washington. In 2005, they received a CDBG grant, and numerous private donations and grants, to build a new facility in Washington. Halcyon House has been a part of Wesley for over 50 years, and employs over 90.
Lending Hands Director Susan Wellington adds, “This merger positions Lending Hands for the future. It will provide a support structure and the opportunity to work within an organization focused on helping older adults age in place.”
Bryan Sanders, VP of Home and Community Based Services is extremely excited about future growth of Lending Hands, serving Washington and surrounding counties. “Lending Hands has amazing support and provides an extremely valuable service to the community. The leadership and caring staff of Lending Hands is truly a blessing to WesleyLife. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know everyone and learning the tremendous story of Lending Hands beginnings and all the good work they do.”
