Washington's Heidi Vittetoe named '2011 Woman in Agriculture' by Iowa Farm Bureau

Heidi Vittetoe of Washington for being named
2011 Woman in Agriculture by the
Iowa Farm Bureau Federation on December 7 at its Annual Meeting. The award goes to a woman that demonstrates outstanding leadership abilities in the promotion of agriculture.
Heidi Vittetoe is the general manager of JW Vittetoe Pork, Ltd. of Washington, Iowa, a family-run farrow-to-finish sow operation that markets over 200,000 hogs annually. Heidi and her husband, Jerome, employ 45 and have 30 local farmers as contract growers.
They have been named "Iowa Master Pork Producers"by the Iowa Pork Producers Association. JW Vittetoe Pork, Ltd. has just been named Cargill's Pork Supplier of the Year for the second consecutive year. Heidi and Jerome have also integrated their daughters, Amanda and Rachel, into the business.
Ms. Vittetoe has also served on the Iowa Environmental Protection Commission, the Washington Community School District's Board of Education, Council Member for St. James Parish, as well as serving on the Washington County Farm Bureau Board.
