A fast-growing Eastern Iowa e-commerce business has enhanced and expanded its employee profit-sharing program.
Clickstop initially introduced its profit-sharing progran in January 2012 as a way for employees to share in the success of the company. The program paid a cash bonus quarterly to full-time employees who had been with Clickstop for a year when profit goals were attained.
The revised profit-sharing program expands the benefit to include part-time employees consistently working more than 30 hours a week and who have worked at least 2,000 total hours. Goals have been changed to focus on Clickstop's gross profit after advertising (GPA), rather than revenue, because the measure more clearly and accurately reflects the company's performance.
Tim Guenther, Clickstop founder and chief executive officer, said employees are informed of the GPA goals each month, with progress updates shared each week. When a GPA target has been reached, every eligible full- and part-time employee is paid a bonus equaling that percentage of their pay.
Guenther said the profit-sharing program, which he considers a vital piece of Clickstop's culture, was redesigned to share information as well as motivate and empower employees.
'We like to have fun while we work, but it's important that we're all personally responsible for our contribution,” Guenther said. 'Sharing in the profit is a great way to reward employees after their impact reaches the bottom line.”
The profit-sharing program also was revised to provide funding for the company's Clickstop Cares program. A portion of the company profits will be funneled into the program, which focuses on helping people in the community.
Under the plan, up to $50,000 each year can be used to fund Clickstop Cares.
Guenther formed Clickstop in 2005 when he was selling a variety of cargo control products on the USCargoControl.com website. The company operates nine web store properties and employees about 80.
