There are two new housing subdivisions in Washington planning to begin construction later this year. This is a sign of economic recovery in Washington County. Kudos to Vogel Construction, Dalhaze Development and area lenders for advancing these community building projects.
Oakwood Subdivision
Vogel Construction of Washington is working toward a final plat of a 20 lot subdivision on Washington's south side. It is adjacent to the upscale Timber Ridge subdivision that is approaching build-out, and also next to the Washington Golf and County Club.
Ashley Lynn Subdivision
Dalhaze Development of Washington is building three duplexes in its Ashley Lynn Subdivision on Washington's far north side, on 18th St. Tim Zehr of Washington Real Estate is marketing the properties for Jeff Hazelett, president of Dalhaze.
The six duplex units will be $142,500 each.
The six units in the subdivision project have received federal funding through the Iowa Dept. of Economic Development, as part of the 2008 flood recovery in the Corridor, to provide significant down payment assistance to home buyers. The program funds are managed by the East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG), based in Cedar Rapids.
Buyers will receive down payment assistance of $35,625 (25%) towards the $142,500 purchase price. There are household income limits to qualify. A family of 4 with an annual income of as much as $63,000 would qualify.
This is a remarkable opportunity to purchase an upscale family home.
Here is a map showing the two subdivision locations.
