THE CONTRARIAN SPEAKS
Zeppelins Bar & Grill owner Dan Marquardt may take pride in the restaurant's service, but he definitely enjoys making fun of the whole obsession.
Employees recorded the following "marquardt-isms" on a poster hung where no customer can see it (but they'll probably hear some of them anyway).
Read Dave DeWitte's profile on Marquardt and his how he developed his management philosophy in this Sunday's Business 380.
To guests:
"Eighty percent of the people who eat here don't get sick."
"This is your server. I found her on the side of 380 changing tires."
"Sorry, we have a three-lawyer maximum."
"If you think it's dark in here now, wait until we turn down the lights."
"(insert name) will be your server. Talk real slow."
To staff:
"Hey! Good job pushing that old beef!"
"Get a haircut. You look like a bunny rabbit."
"Get their order. Get them their food. Get them out of here."
"Are their two T's in dimwit?"
