Casey Prince, Executive Director of Theatre Cedar Rapids for the past 10 years, announced his resignation in order to accept the position of Downtown District Executive Director, according to a TCR media release.
The position works with the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance and the Downtown Self-Supporting Municipal Improvement District (Downtown SSMID), which represents commercial property owners in a 55-block area.
The responsibilities were previously handled by Doug Neumann, who is now serving as interim president and CEO of the Economic Alliance.
Prince has already worked with the Economic Alliance as a member of its Community Development Innovation Council and leader of a task force focused on improvements along Third St. SE.
During Prince's time as executive director, TCR endured and returned from the flood of 2008, completed an $8 million renovation of the Iowa Theater building, seeded a $2 million endowment, and increased annual attendance.
Prince will continue at TCR through the end of October, according to the release.
