Green building practices are on the rise in Iowa and around the world. In September of this year the United States Green Building Council announced the 10,000th project to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification since the program launched in 2000.
Stamats Communications in downtown Cedar Rapids is one of 173 LEED projects in the state that have either achieved certification or are in progress.
On Wednesday, Stamats Communications' controller Rich Hanson will speak to local business professionals about his experience and key learnings from designing, building and applying for LEED certification.
The presentation will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at the Stamats offices at 615 6th St SE in Cedar Rapids. Anyone interested in green business practices or the LEED application process is invited to attend. Registration for this free event is at http://stamats.eventbrite.com/.
This presentation is organized by the Regional Sustainable Business Alliance (RSBA), a committee of the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.
The RSBA is committed to creating a sustainable business community where environmental impact is minimized and economic growth potential is maximized. For more information contact Sheila Samuelson at
