During the 2008 flood, Stamats Communications was under 5 feet of water. Today, a group of local professionals will tour the Stamats Communications facility to learn about the efficiency and environmental features that helped it earn the LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) designation.
This event, sponsored by the Regional Sustainable Business Alliance, will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a discussion of the post-flood LEED CI renovation project and conclude with a guided tour of the facility.
The Regional Sustainable Business Alliance is a group of professionals with an interest in sustainability that formed in March of this year, with help from the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.
In the Alliance, professionals learn from each other by sharing best practices, challenges, successes and resources. For example, a business with a commitment to eliminating waste can learn from steps that others locally have taken to increase recycling or reduce waste at its source.
RSBA events are open to professionals who wish to learn and share about sustainable business practices, such as using less energy, creating less waste, improving health and wellness programs, etc.
Spots for the tour are limited, so RSVP at
