SpeedConnect, a Michigan-based premium wireless broadband provider with an office in North Liberty, has added a new service tower near West Branch.
The expansion project complements an existing service coverage area that includes Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Marion, Anamosa, Vinton, Williamsburg, North Liberty, much of the Quad Cities, as well as nearby communities.
The new site, with an antenna located at 900 feet on the tower near West Branch, will increase capacity and boost coverage in the West Branch and surrounding 20- mile radius of the tower. The site was available to provide service on May 4, according to Tony Lounsberry, SpeedConnect's Iowa general manager.
SpeedConnect has spent the last six months investing more than $450,000 to upgrade and improve the technology supporting the existing Iowa base, and preparing for further expansion of service availability.
