Seminar on legislation affecting seniors, disabled planned at Kirkwood

CEDAR RAPIDS -- The Heritage Agency on Aging will host a seminar on legislation affecting seniors and those with disabilities from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in Ballrooms B & C of The Kirkwood Center, 7725 Kirkwood Blvd. SW, Cedar Rapids.
The public is invited to attend the free event. The agenda includes:
- The National Debt Debate, presented by Mike Owen, assistant director, Iowa Policy Project
- Affordable Care Act Update: Why the ACA is a smart use of our health care dollars, presented by Judy Baker, director, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Region VII
- Home and Community Based Services: Reducing and slowing the growth of long term care expenditures and the Olmstead Decision, presented by Robert Bacon, director, Iowa University Center for Excellence on Disabilities
- National Council on Aging One Away Campaign, presented by Ingrid Wensel, executive director, Heritage Area Agency on Aging
