Sears outlet store opens in SW Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS - Sears has opened an outlet store in the 2000 block of 16th Avenue SW.

The retailer, adjacent to Room-makers Furniture & Flooring, 2020 16th Ave. SW, is the second Hometown Store that has opened recently in the Corridor. A Sears Hometown Store recently opened in Iowa City's Sycamore Mall.

Sears Hometown stores, which are locally owned and operated, were developed nearly 20 years ago to serve customers in locations outside of major metropolitan cities. There are about 900 Hometown Stores throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

Other Iowa Sears Hometown Stores are located in Atlantic, Burlington, Carroll, Centerville, Clarinda, Decorah, Estherville, Fort Madison, Grinnell, Keokuk, Le Mars, Marshalltown, Muscatine, Osage, Oskaloosa, Sheldon, Spencer and Storm Lake.

Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Sears operates full-line stores at Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids and Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville.
