Rockwell Collins has been awarded two major defense contracts for the government of Australia.
The company was selected as prime contractor on a $68 million contract to deliver 152 Digital Terminal Control Systems for the Australian Defense Force and awarded a contract to supply Defense Advanced GPS Receivers to the Australia Department of Defense.
The Digital Terminal Control System, based on the FireStorm solution developed by Rockwell Collins, allows Special Forcea and artillery forward observers to identify targets with greater accuracy through use of precision targeting software.
Rockwell Collins recently completed delivery of more than 1,200 Defense Advanced GPS Receivers, 97 MicroDAGRs and related equipment to the Australian Department of Defence, and recently signed a second contractor for 2,400 DAGRs with deliveries scheduled for July.
The smartphone inspired MicroDAGR is the latest member of Rockwell Collins' handheld GPS receiver line. It provides dismounted soldiers with real-time position, navigation, moving maps and timing information on a full-color touch screen display. It is small enough to be worn on the wrist, attached to a lanyard, or placed in a pocket.
