The Englert Theatre has appointed Katie Roche as the theatre's new Development Director.
Roche has spent the last four years creating community focused television for the City of Iowa City's Channel 4 as a producer and on-air host. In that position, Roche developed original, informative programming with area individuals, non-profits, local businesses, City of Iowa City staff and elected officials on all levels.
Before her tenure with the city, Roche was the first Executive Director for Summer of the Arts, the umbrella organization that brought together the Iowa Arts Festival, Iowa City Jazz Festival, Friday Night Concert Series and Saturday Night Free Movie Series.
Since returning to Iowa City from New York City in 2004, Roche has worked and volunteered as a private fundraising consultant and cultural animator in the Johnson County area with organizations including PATV, RVAP, The Johnson County Local Foods Alliance, Public Space 1, Downtown Saturday Night, Camp Euforia, and Iowa Women's Music Festival. She will be speaking at the New Bohemian Conference & Festival on September 5th, and the Crossroads Entertainment Conference in November.
“We are very pleased to welcome Katie to our team. She is an integral member of our community and has a keen vision for the expansion of arts and culture in Iowa City and the surrounding Corridor,” said Andre Perry, Executive Director.
The Englert Theatre will celebrate the 99th Anniversary of its historic building October 6-8. The three-day event features panel discussions and performances by Iris DeMent, Pieta Brown, and the Poison Control Center. Roche will be on-hand to meet the Englert and Iowa City communities.
