Regus opens coworking space in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS -- International Workplace Group, a British holding company, has opened one of its Regus coworking spaces in northeast Cedar Rapids.

The 12,000-square-foot space offers 33 private offices and 40 cubicle offices (with sliding doors and locks) in a former Transamerica building at 4515 N. River Blvd. NE.

The space offers “wicked high-speed internet,” adjustable sit or stand desks, a copier and scanner, meeting rooms, a kitchen and lounge, cleaning services and free parking, according to Brian Dalziel, the office’s sales and operations manager

Rents begin at $180 a month for a “cube” office and $500 to $1,500 per month for a private office, depending on the office’s size and view, he said.

Some of the spaces are leased, and “we already have a law firm taking depositions here once a week,” Dalziel said.

This is the fifth Regus-branded coworking space in Iowa, with the company planning to open another five in the next year, he said. The International Workplace Group has more than 1,000 locations in the U.S.

Dalziel.58, said his position with the Cedar Rapids Regus office is a bit of a homecoming for him. In the 1990s, he founded and was the product development manager of the software company Decisionmark, a Gazette subsidiary until it was sold in 2007.

He also worked for business accelerators in Dubuque and the Spencer area for a number of years and has experience opening and managing coworking spaces.

The new Regus coworking space joins other coworking sites in the Corridor: the Vault in the NewBo District in Cedar Rapids; the Armstrong Hub in downtown Cedar Rapids; Merge in Iowa City; CoWork@808 in Coralville; and North Liberty CoLab.
