Realtors buy Iowa City real estate brokerage from founders

IOWA CITY -- Teresa Morrow and Alan Swanson, agents with Blank & McCune - The Real Estate Co. in Iowa City, have purchased the 33-year-old business from its founders.

Jackie Blank and Jane McCune formed Blank & McCune, 506 E. College St., in 1979 despite all of their male advisers advising them against the idea.  Their banker, lawyer, and accountant encouraged them not to continue with their plans.

Blank and McCune will continue to work at Blank & McCune as Realtors.

Morrow began her career in 1985 by joining a local real estate development and management company as controller. With her formal training in accounting and finance, she soon accepted various corporate responsibilities giving her extensive experience in commercial real estate management, investment analysis, and commercial sales and leasing.

Swanson, who joined Blank & McCune  in 2004, has enjoyed a long and successful affiliation with the University of Iowa and involvement with the community as a volunteer and in the arts. He will focus on community outreach and brand marketing, while continuing to work with residential real estate.
