MARION - Prospect Meadows named Tim Strellner as its next chairman of the board of directors Tuesday.
Strellner, 59, first got involved with the Prospect Meadows project as a volunteer eight years ago, when the baseball complex in Marion still was in the early planning stages.
He eventually became vice president of the board of directors and chairman of the fundraising committee, spearheading the effort to raise enough money to bring the $19 million project to fruition.
'When I got more involved in Prospect Meadows, I saw this was the project for me,” he said in a news release Tuesday.
Strellner also owns Strellner Agency Group, a Cedar Rapids-based insurance company, and has coached college baseball.
With the completion of the first phase of construction in May, Prospect Meadows has nine baseball fields, including one for children with disabilities. The complex has plans to add another eight fields by 2023.
Strellner's latest role as chairman of the board is new to the Prospect Meadows organization.
Troy McQuillen will be vice chairman of the Prospect Meadows board of directors. Rick Freese is the secretary, and Steve Hammes is the treasurer.
Jack Roeder will remain the president of Prospect Meadows.
