Summit, based in Ames, plans to put 333 miles of pipeline through North Dakota, part of a 2,500-mile network of pipelines in five states that includes Iowa.

The building, which is being constructed adjacent to company’s existing Iowa City plant, at 2258 Heinz Rd., will serve as a hub for ALPLA’s expanded apprenticeship program, for which it partners with Kirkwood Community College. It’s a $15.8 million project.
