Orchestra Iowa and VenuWorks, which has a city contract to manage the Paramount Theatre, have reached an agreement to jointly manage the historic entertainment facility in downtown Cedar Rapids.
Orchestra Iowa and VenuWorks will work together in the programming, marketing, sales and operation of the Paramount. The city-owned theater, constructed in 1928, was heavily damaged by the June 2008 flood.
Orchestra Iowa has been the primary tenant and chief stakeholder of the Paramount since 1980. The organization helped to lead the effort to save the theater and has been actively involved in the restoration and promotion of the facility, which is expected to reopen in the fall.

The theater is undergoing a $34.5 million restoration after it was severely damaged in the flood of 2008 and is scheduled to re-open on October, 12th of 2012. (Brian Ray/ SourceMedia Group News)
