CEDAR RAPIDS — Fast food powerhouse McDonald’s soon may have a new location in northeastern Cedar Rapids, city documents show.
The Cedar Rapids City Planning Commission last week approved a rezoning request for three parcels of land off Center Point Road NE near Interstate 380 for the construction of a fast-food restaurant and attached parking lot.
The rezoning will require final approval from the Cedar Rapids City Council, and a public hearing is set for May 27. The parcels are located at 3201 and 3215 Carlisle St. NE. and 1712 32nd St. NE.
Presenters at the planning commission meeting did not identify the restaurant by name, but documents contained in the meeting’s publicly available agenda packet identified McDonald’s USA LLC as an affiliated party.
City Planner Dave Houg told commissioners that the restaurant would be 4,500 square feet in size and would include a drive-through and attached parking lot. A traffic study is in progress and will be submitted to the city for review.
