New employees
Lisa Schettler (see photo) joined Shive-Hattery in Iowa City as an interior designer.
Amy Schuerer (see photo) joined the residential interior design staff of Phelan's Interiors in Cedar Rapids. Schuerer is a graduate of Kirkwood College's Interior Design program.
The board of directors of the Iowa City UNESCO City of Literature named John Kenyon (see photo) executive director of the organization. Kenyon had been serving as interim executive director since mid-May.
Kathy Hotz (see photo) joined St. Luke's Hospital as emergency department nurse manager. Hotz previously worked at Mercy Iowa City.
Promotions
Abbe Inc. announced that Diane Brecht (see photo) was promoted to vice president for community housing and quality improvement. Brecht will remain executive director of Penn Center Inc. and Abbe Inc. affiliate. Kathy Horan (see photo) was promoted to vice president for aging services. Horan will remain executive director for Aging Services Inc. and Abbe Inc. affiliate.
Southgate Development Services in Iowa City announced Terry Sill (see photo) was appointed chief executive officer. Before joining Southgate, Sill was chief financial officer of XL Specialized Trailers Inc. in Manchester.
CliftonLarsonAllen announced David Little (see photo) was named partner in the firm's Cedar Rapids office. Little recently transferred to Cedar Rapids from the firm's Minneapolis office.
Sarah Baumert (see photo) was named 5 East nurse manager with St. Luke's Hospital. Baumert was previously supervisor of the unit.

“Sharpen Your Financial Coaching Skills” begins Sept. 12 at the Cedar Rapids Public Library. The five-week Iowa State University Extension and Outreach course is designed for those working in not-for-profit organizations who assist others with financial management concerns.
