Miron planning new office, warehouse

A Wisconsin contractor involved in building projects, including the Cedar Rapids Convention Center and DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, is planning a larger physical presence in the Corridor.

Miron Construction of Neenah, Wis., will be building a new office and warehouse at 335 French Court SW in Cedar Rapids. The company said the 12,000-square-foot office, which is expected to open in September, will be the base of operations for all of the company's Iowa projects.

Miron, which currently operates from leased office space at 9440 Atlantic Dr. SW, is the contractor for the University of Iowa's new 128,000-square-foot Art Building scheduled for completion this year. The company's completed projects include Iowa City Fire Station No. 2; the University of Iowa UIHC Institute for Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation; and the 10-story UI Mary Louise Petersen Residence Hall.

Miron entered the Cedar Rapids market in 2003 as the general contractor for the $7.8 million Paramount Theatre renovation and expansion project. Over the next five years, the company was awarded nearly $300 million worth of construction projects in Iowa and western Illinois.

Miron is ranked 105th among the 'Top 400 Contractors in the United States” by Engineering News Record, based on 2014 revenue of $654 million.
