Mediacom plans to raise it rates in December.
The increase will be $2 per month for customers who receive Basic Cable and $3 per month for customers who receive the Family Cable package, which includes Basic Cable.
The rate for Family Cable will rise to $65.95 monthly from $62.95 in the Cedar Rapids area, including North Liberty, Hiawtha, Marion, and the Amana Colonies.
The rate for Family Cable will rise to $61.95 monthly from $59.95 in Iowa City and Coralville.
Mediacom spokeswoman Phyllis Peters said Mediacom has kept rates stable since September 2009. The increase is the result of higher programming costs passed along to Mediacom, according to Peters. She said Mediacom has added value for customers since the last increase by tripling its high-definition programming and adding more Basic Cable general channels in digital.
Many Mediacom customers covered by promotional prices will not see the increase, Peters added.
